Today has been a celebration of new beginnings for me. With the creation of my first blog, my first website and my first time at a wonderful networking event called "Jazzy June".
These three events are destined to help me promote my new consulting business. While I have worked on a contract basis for the last year and a half, this is a major step for my professional life. I am not counting out finding permanent employment, but am enjoying the flexibility that contract work has provided me.
As I take these first steps in a new direction, I want to credit some people who have been helpful and very encouraging: Candace Brown (goodlifenw@blogspot.com) and Joe Follansbee (mhnblog@blogspot.com). Both are writers and fellow tall ship enthusiasts and are inspirations for me as I begin to also start writing as part of my day of "firsts".
So for everyone who has thought about trying something new, I encourage you to begin. All it takes it a first step, the rest will start to follow and before you know it, you are walking tall.
